Sunday Morning Services

Sunday Services

11:00 am
During the service we offer

Child care for infants & toddlers.

Religious education for children and youth.

The primary period of worship at UUCL is Sunday morning at 11:00am.  The service usually lasts a little over an hour, and features organized music and ritual and a homily by the minister or worship leader.

Our children usually attend the first ten minutes of the service and are called to the front for children's time, during which they hear a story and participate in a brief discussion. They then go to their Religious Education classes, which take place during the adult service. Older youth often attend services and participate in adult services through readings and music.

Music is a big part of the Sunday service, with contributions by our UUCL choir and many of the talented musicians in the church.

We also have special 11:00am services several times a year.  Many of our special services are intergenerational, with the children and youth remaining for the entire service.  Examples of recent special services include plays performed by our children and youth, services celebrating a special time of year, and animal blessing services.

Themes for each Sunday vary widely, as the following list from recent services shows:

  • Hope and Happiness
  • Expressions of Gratitude
  • Sacrifice, Danger, Persistence:  A Day in the Life of a UU Minister
  • All Souls Means ALL Souls
  • Hunting for Heroes
  • The Lurch of the Heart:  Uniqueness and Universality
  • Do Animals Have Souls?
  • Waiting for an Apology
  • Two Birds, One Stone
