Religious Education: High School Group

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Lexington has three strong programs for high school youth:

  • High School Religious Exploration Classes which meet during the Sunday morning service, upstairs in the Allen House, (red brick building). The current theme is "US and THEM", with movies, discussions, projects and special guests.  Last year the HS Class planned and led a "World Dinner Experience" to raise money for God's Pantry and Heifer International, helping to end local and world hunger. They did an amazing job! All High Schoolers are invited to join this group on any Sunday! The High School class attends and participates in the service on certain Sundays.

  • Youth Group, for 9th-12th grades, meets on the 2nd & 4th Friday of every month from 6:30-8:30pm. Some recent activities include running the Haunted Barn for our Halloween Fest, attending CONs (youth conferences), overnights, attending plays, community service and New Year's rituals. All HS youth are encouraged to try out this group.

  • Coming of Age Program, led by our minister Cynthia Cain, currently has 15 youth enrolled. This is a 9 month long process where the youth participate in retreats, monthly meetings, meet with mentors, and learn more about the Unitarian Universalist faith and their own spiritual journey. The Coming of Age program culminates with a trip to Boston, the "Mecca" of the Unitarian Universalists! We  have a Coming of Age program every 2-3 years. This is a life changing experience for many youth and we want as many as possible to have this opportunity!
