| The church is run by a Church Board and many voluntary
committees. In addition, UUCL has a full time office administrator, a
part time Director of Religious Education, a part
time Music Director, and part-time janitorial
staff.

Caring Committee
The Caring Committee contacts church members to give temporary help to
active church people who are in a crisis situation, such as illness, accident,
or death in the family. Committee volunteers help out by providing
food, or a ride, or help with housework, etc. The committee tries to call on any one volunteer
only once or twice a year. Worship Aesthetics
The Worship Aesthetics committee takes care of the decor for the chalice
table each Sunday, Operating on a rotating schedule so each person usually
does one Sunday a month. Sometimes our designs try to reflect the theme
of the service, and sometimes we just try to make a beautiful arrangement;
always we strive to make the chalice table a focal point for meditation
and reflection. UUCL is fortunate to have a group of decorators instead
of having to rely on just one person every week (as many churches must
do), because each decorator brings a completely different vision and set
of skills -- to the table, so to speak! "Guest Decorators" are
always welcome to volunteer.
Uniview Assembly Crew
The Uniview Assembly Crews could use a few more people to help stuff,
staple and label the newsletter. All it takes is about an hour (or so)
of your time once a month after the 11:00 service. It's easy and you get
to meet and work with some great people.
Hospitality Committee
The Hospitality Committee welcomes the congregation at the Coffee Hour
immediately after the services. We prepare coffee, tea and other drinks
as well as a snack to munch on while visiting others, welcoming visitors
or stopping by the information tables set up in the Fellowship Hall. Some committee members arrive early enough on Sunday to
prepare these refreshments and others stay to clean up. Our project is
self-supporting. Donations from folks who enjoy the treats are how we
sustain this program. Publicity Committee
This committee assists in getting the name of the church, its principles
and its activities out into the local community. Although an advertising
or media background is helpful, we welcome all members of the church to
join and generate creative ideas of telling Lexington about UUCL. Technical Committee
The Technical Committee cares for all aspects of the computer systems
in the church office, as well as the website. We meet monthly, or as needed
when needed for a large project. The Technical Committee welcomes both
people with technical computer backgrounds, as well as non-technical church
members who can help us evaluate what functions are needed, usability,
etc. |
